Duke Nukem Confirmed
2K Games has made it official: Duke Nukem Forever is alive and, well, in the hands of developer Gearbox Software, confirming our earlier reports that the Borderlands studio was helping to complete the game's absurdly long development cycle.
The publisher announced this morning in advance of PAX 2010 that Gearbox Software was on the job, picking up where developer 3D Realms left off. Gearbox plans to ship the game on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 within the next year, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal—the WSJ says DNF is due "next year" and "currently expected to ship in 2010."
Given Duke Nukem Forever's epic development—it was first announced in 1997 as a sequel to Duke Nukem 3D—it might be wise to hedge on the later of those two release windows.
Gearbox and 2K will be showcasing the game to press and the public at this weekend's PAX convention. 2K Games is offering a publicly playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever at its booth.
After more than a decade in development, Duke Nukem Forever all but ended its production after the collapse of studio 3D Realms. Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford tells the WSJ that his studio picked up development in late 2009 and that the game is currently in the "polishing" stages.

AMD to Ditch the ATI Brand
> AMD/ATI, and the Need to Change
> Welcome to the future!
> We’ve been waiting for this news ever since AMD bought ATI, but AMD today revealed that we probably won’t see the ATI name in 2011, though we’ll likely hear it for years to come.

Battlefield 3 Speculation and Wishes
1UP: What We Want For Battlefield 3
> All we know is that BF3 seems to be a multi-platform release (by virtue of being bundled with Medal of Honor), so it will not only be on PC, but also on PS3 and 360. That, and it's likely to use the Frostbite 2.0 engine (as good as Bad Company 2 was, it was still technically Frostbite one-point-something). So it's safe to expect even more destructible terrain, and perhaps better tools for supporting more user-mods on PC. But what else do we actually want in it? In basic terms: a delightful blend of Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 2.
> Basically, we want the aesthetics and destruction of BC2 with the scope and scale of BF2. At the moment, we're going to roll with a near-future setting; even though BC2 does a pretty good job with the modern-to-future gear, we'd like those aesthetics to be brought into a deeper and more interesting game in BF3. Anyhow, here are some more of our humble suggestions to DICE.
EuroGamers: Why BattleField 3 will be a success
> It's official, BattleField 3 is on the way! The beta should be with us sometime on or before October 2011. If you've missed the announcement, have a look at this news piece.
> But will it be worth buying? Much of the feedback on the current title, Bad Company 2, has been poor simply because it's been compared to BattleField 2 and BattleField 2142. To see why that is an unfair comparison, please read this blog post.
> Now that's cleared up, the burning question left is very simply can BF3 match it's predecessors BF2 and BF2142? The answer, I think, is yes. Here's why...

New Website
Welcome to the fresh new Oceanic Eagles website.
This website replaces vWar, and integrates the warring system and primary website into one seamless website. I realise the site looks a little funky in the visual styling department, especially on the war pages. I will be working on this over the next couple of weeks.
Existing Oceanic Eagles members should read the Migrating to New Website article. There are a few things we need you to fill out.

Clan Meeting
Hi Team
Thanks to those who could turn up to the clan meeting the other night.
<!--break-->
The topics of discussion were:
- Players intentions and commitment to BC2
- Players intentions and commitment to COD
- Recruitment needs
A number of players were removed completely from the squad and some players were moved to inactive.
Based on these movements and discussion with players around their availability and willingness to commit full hog to BC2 which is of course is the only game we offer at the moment, it became very clear that we need to recruit more players asap.
In fact we need to recruit 10+ in a short period of time.
Azalin and I are working on some strategies by talking to smaller/less established squads and trying to get a bulk recruitment going but we need to do more regularly.
-
If anyone would like an admin position with the main focus on actively recruiting players please let me know.
-
All players should actively send people to our web site or give Azalins xfire contact details to potential recruits.
-
When in game we should not have 4 OE players in 1 squad. Leave room for a random to help with in squad chat and potential recruitment.
-
When 3 or more players are on we should be in our server. Perhaps use another account. It doesn't take ling to fill up and is the best tool for recruitment.
-
As OE members you all have a duty to support the squad and help us be sustainable in 2010/2011. Everyone should be spreading the word. Please do your bit and mention OE to other gamers even if they don't play BC2, they might later.
Its easy to sit back and say someone else will take care of this and to date that is what has happened. The admin team CANNOT do this alone. Everyone must take a stand and make sure we have good numbers moving forward.
Thanks for your help

GameArena Comp: Re Teamkilling
A PSA, courtesy of GameArena
<!--break-->
> As some teams have already found out, Team Killing in competition games can result in being automatically kicked from the server.
> Unfortunately due to very limited options with the server software, these automatic kicks cannot be turned off.
> For this reason we urge all teams not to kill team mates before or during their matches to avoid being kicked.
> Please be aware this is NOT admins kicking players, it is the games automatic functionality.
> Disputes over players kicked from the server for this will be ignored.
> If a player is kicked from the server, they should immediately rejoin and play on.

GA Rush Comp
I do believe it is live in full.
The reason for a bye to start proceedings is probably luck of the draw, or being quick to sign up. Also would be due to the number of teams.. must be a 128 team format to get it to a GF in the stated rounds.

With it being a prize winning comp .. they will be hot on smurfing and other dodgy forms .. so make sure you wear your GA name for the game .. if you couldnt get it ... for the duration of the comp .. change your GA name to suit it (i know Nip .. dipper575 aint the coolest GA name .. but it will have to do lol .. could have chosen NipNip instead :P)
Chilli will oversee the comp as he is sole captain, but everyone please keep checking the Comp page to make sure you are up to speed with whats happening, and any new information, link back to here.
Make sure you all read the rules.
